How to Score With a Hockey Shooting Tarp

Are you trying to improve your shooting game? One of the best tools you can use for that is a hockey shooting tarp. Although it is not the same as playing a real game with real players, it is designed to allow you to focus on those hard to get shots so you can master them all. Whether you are practicing with a shooting pad, or on synthetic ice with lots of room it is perfect for honing in those one-timer skills.

Practice Virtually Anywhere

One of the greatest things about a Sniper’s Edge shooting tarp is that it can be set up in any place that has enough space. A little ingenuity can go a long way when you put your mind to it. You could even set it up outside between a couple of trees. Since it gets suspended by the top rings it is easy to hang and use within a short time. This way you have more time to shoot goals and less time to set things up.

Outside Shooting

If you do get a setup outside you can practice your shots using a shooting pad. You don’t have to have a rink or even a partial rink to practice. If you set yourself up with plenty of pucks so you don’t have to chase them every time you hit one you can focus completely on making your shots. If you think that practicing outside from the ground won’t help you to sharpen your skills on the ice, think again. When you put yourself in a place that makes it more difficult to shoot perfect goals than it would be on the ice, you strengthen your shooting skills. When you get back out on the ice and in a game, the muscle memory will kick in and you will be unstoppable.

Inside Shooting

Parents love the idea of a sturdy hockey tarp. You can practice those shots with full force and not have to worry about putting holes in the walls with pucks. It is easy to turn the garage into a mini rink where you can practice as long as you want away from any interruptions. These tarps not only protect the walls from damage but the appliances as well. Hockey is a rough sport, everybody knows this. Sometimes practice can be rough as well. Practicing with equipment that is manufactured to be as tough as a hockey player is the best way to reduce any damages that might happen.

Shooting Drills

Some of the strongest practices are drills. You don’t need a coach or even a team to practice drills from home with a tarp. All you need is some room and a little imagination. Whatever flooring you decide to use for practice will work with the tarp, but you will have to improvise different techniques for practice. If you have a good-sized floor to move around on one thing you can do is line all of your pucks up in a straight row going away from the tarp. Position them around a foot or so apart from each other. Get your stick and practice shooting them one by one as you quickly move towards the end of the line. This kind of drill will help you to develop speed, agility, and precision. Repeat this exercise over and over until you get sick of it. Then do it again. Knowing how to shoot and score points is how you dominate the game and win. Practicing on a regular basis will help you become excellent at what you do.
