Why Is IPL The Most Popular Cricket Tournament In India?

Whenever you talk about sports in India, the primary sport that strikes a chord is cricket, especially IPL. It is because cricket has pretty much stayed with the people of India. It has been, to a greater extent, an obsession. Several Indians even go to such an extreme to plan their weekly exercises, travel dates, and even job commitments to not clash with the matches’ time & dates.

Yet, why is IPL a particularly famous tournament in India, and for what reason does it get a much bigger fanbase than the globally well-known fantasy football or sports like kabaddi or field hockey?

1. It has a mass audience from all age groups across the nation:

For this reason, the IPL during April and May is a booking success. Since the competition doesn’t conflict with existing homegrown tournaments of most cricketing countries, the presence of top stars has been everything. So, the IPL has the main mover advantage. However, it has been supported by other excellent conditions as well – no homegrown cricket runs in corresponding with this competition (as it has been the situation in different nations like Australia, England, and others), and it doesn’t cover with other T20 associations. Hence, the IPL made a powerful coincidence and became an association like no other in world cricket.

2. A highly profitable tournament for all:

In India, IPL gets a ton of consideration from the media. Also, IPL supports many other cricket businesses like fantasy apps, TV consumption, and media businesses.

IPL is the center focal point of most businesses publicizing a cricket match. Cricketers and cricket clubs have drawn in many supporters because of this gigantic event. In addition, many cricket players have gathered significant earnings by endorsing various cricket fantasy apps and starring in multiple ads.

As a result, cricket is a significant business in India. Professional and domestic cricket players have greatly benefitted due to the IPL. Many young Indian boys play and earn on the fantasy apps and see cricket players’ dedicated and luxirious lifestyle on television, which inspires them to take up a profession as cricket players.

3. Watched around different mediums to initiate T20 format:

The BCCI has successfully replaced some of the Indian relaxation activities like sitting in front of the TV, watching films, and partying at eateries. As phones and TVs are the most available type of minimal expense screens for people, individuals of all foundations are pulled to phones for fantasy cricket or TV set to watch shows.

With all the different tournaments and leagues going, cricket was always a serious sport. Hardly any Indian family could not watch the match for six hours every day or five back-to-back days (now and again without a victory) at a stretch, regardless of whether they needed to do so. With the IPL, the BCCI could attract alternatives to make a cricket league fun, energizing, and enchanting for all.

Today, the Indian Premier League resembles the Super Bowl.

The debut IPL season was more than a triumph. More than 200 million Indians watched the opening season. During the semi-final and last matches, half of the Indian families with a link or satellite TV watched the IPL.
