All of those who are fond of football had the debate of the greatest players at least once. And while everyone has different opinions and judging criteria, we present to you our picks for the greatest football players of this decade.  

Didier Drogba

The Ivorian striker started the decade magnificently by winning the Premier League title and Golden Boot. And two years later Chelsea’s player added the Champions League to the top of these wins. Playing mostly for the English club ‘Chelsea’ the player is ranked fourth in the club’s highest goal scorer of all times.

On the national level, Drogba was the all-time top scorer and former captain of the Ivory Coast national team.

After many titles and rewards, and a football career filled with achievements, Drogba retired in Nov 2018. The last club he played for was Phoenix Rising.

Samuel Eto’o

Samuel Eto’o the Cameroonian was one of the main contributors to Inter Milan’s glory in the Champions League. During his time in Italy, this brilliant striker managed to score 53 goals in just 102 appearances.

Being regarded as one of the greatest strikers of all time Samuel Eto’o was African Player of the Year a record number of times, as he earned this title in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2010.

Eto’o announced his retirement in September 2019, ending his magnificent football journey playing for Qatar SC.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic 

Looking at the Swedish interviews and statements, many may say that Zlatan Ibrahimovicis too arrogant. But others would say he is just speaking with utter confidence given the magnificent amount of talent he has.

Looking at his football career so far,Ibrahimovichas scored over 500 goals, won 13 league titles, and was nominated for Ballon d’Or over 9 times. He played for different clubs in Europe including Inter Milan, Barcelona, and A.C. Milan.

Nike’s ‘Dare To Zlatan’ campaign that was meant to encourage young people to be fearless and unique shows how inspirational Ibrahimovic is.

Neymar Jr. 

In the time where Ronaldo and Messi were referred to as the legends of this decade, Neymar was here to prove that the two have some new competition. 

The Brazilian player scored 181 during his time with Barcelona but being overshadowed by Messi the player transferred in one of the most expensive transfers in history. Neymar joined Paris Saint-Germain in €222m transfer.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo’s dedication has managed to put him at the top of the list when talking about the greatest players of all time. CR7 has scored over 700 goals so far in his career, won 5 Ballons d’Or, five Champions League titles, and played for Europe’s most prominent clubs including Real Madrid, and Manchester United. And while he was expected to leave Real Madrid and the ‘La Liga’ to move to a less competitive league Ronaldo chose to continue his career in one of Italy’s majestic teams, Juventus.

Lionel Messi

It is impossible to take about the greatest footballers of all time and not hear the name, Lionel Messi. A true icon and inspiration Messi is just the GOAT. Whenever the talent of a new player is measured, football fans Messi would always use the talent of Messi as a measuring factor.

So far Messi has scored 750 goals, won the ‘Golden Shoes’ six times, and was rewarded with Ballon D’Or six times as well.
